Boddington Reservoir
The match was a split carp and silvers match which allowed anglers to choose between catching carp which the venue is mostly know for or fishing for roach which are prolific but not normally fished for.
The carp match was slow with a few blank nets and only a few carp were caught ,Dave Hudson won with 50 lb 06 oz, Eddie Kelly came second with 34 lb and Neil Schumann came third with 28 lb 06 oz.
The silver's match was a great success and the top weight was won by John Walkden with 46 lb 01 oz, Byron Yates was second with 38 lb 04 oz and Baz Barnes was third with 36 lb 15 oz.

Aston Magna Tankard - 2nd Round
Saturdays 2nd round of the Aston Magna Tankard / Paul Gedens Cup and it was a strange old day when nobody could have predicted where the winning weights would come from.
Simon Slowther found the carp and won the match and the section with 23 lb 10 oz, Les Ashby won his section to remain top of the group with 13 lb 09 oz and Stuart Fleming won his section with 8 lb 13 oz.

Aston Magna Lakes
Saturday's first match of the Aston Magna Tankard series and 16 fished the match.
Well done to Les Ashby who weighed in 26 lb 03oz of carp and won his section and the match, Phil Outram also won his section and came second with 22 lb 06 oz also carp. The third section was won by Andy Bruce with 12 lb 13 oz of bream.
Great banter all day and we finished just in time before the rain and lightning started. Spring has arrived with frogspawn in the pools and daffodils flowering on the banks but it's still cold.

Shipston A.C/ADDAC 4
Sunday's matches on the pools at Aston Magna and Clifford Chambers, were a very wet and wild Winter league.
Steve Arthurs had the winning weight at Aston Magna with 19 lb 06 oz, Malcolm Barnes had 14 lb 14 oz for second place and Peter Morgan came third with 14 lb 01 oz.
At Clifford Chambers Andy Bruce won with 104 lb 05 oz, Les Les Ashby came second with 54 lb 15 oz and Phil Outram came third with 54 lb 10 oz.

Sparrows Winter League 4
Last round of Sparrows league and unfortunately after Saturday's rain the river banks were unsafe to fish and the pace of the river was pushing through rather quick! The match was changed to the pool at Aston Magna where Gary Didcock continued to be the man to beat, with his two firsts and a Second giving him an unbeatable 4 points he was four points clear ahead of Steve Arthurs who was second in the league. He won the match with 7 lb 12 oz and Steve Arthurs came second with 4 lb 14 oz, Stuart Fleming came third with 2 lb 07 oz. Stephen King came fourth with a 1 lb 08 oz perch.

Shipston A C/ ADDAC
Shipston angling club & ADDAC league at Aston Magna was a close contest with the bites hard to come by and not easy at all.
Adrian Icke won with 9lb and won his section with Ian Harris coming second in that section with 2 lb 12 oz, Paul Lambert won his section with 5 lb 03 oz and Baz Barnes came second in that section with 3 lb 08 oz . Gary Didcock won his section with 8 lb 14 oz and Stuart Fleming came second with 4 lb 08 oz. With two rounds left Adrian Icke is top with two straight wins from the first two rounds.

Sparrows Winter League 3
Shipston Angling club third round of "Sparrows" winter league on the river Stour, the river was still pacey after the midweek rain but some reasonable weights considering the up and down state of the water levels recently.
Gary Didcock had the top weight with 8 lb 11 oz, Peter Morgan came second with 8 lb 08 oz 8 drams and Steve Arthurs came third with 7 lb 01 oz.
Baz Barnes came 4th with 5 lb 11 oz and 8 drams and Barry Giles came 5th with 4 lb 06 oz 08 drams.

ADDAC League Match
Yesterday's ASTON MAGNA match was hard going in atrocious conditions, the rain was bad but the wind was worse which made it really hard work trying to present the bait properly but fish were caught by some anglers in-between hanging on to the umbrellas or chasing after them!! 15 anglers fished this the first round of four matches.
Steve Arthurs did the best with 9 lb 02 oz and won his section, Adrian Icke won his section with 9 lb and Les Ashby won his section with 5 lb 01 oz

Sparrows Winter League 2
Back fishing the Stour yesterday for the second match on the Sparrow's winter league and it was a typical winter match with fish shoaled up on some pegs and good weights caught and for others , it was the occasional fish getting caught.
Robert Reynolds won with a cracking net of mainly dace and small chub weighing in 14 lb 10 oz, Gary Didcock came second with 9 lb 13 oz and Steve Arthurs was third with 3 lb 05 oz.

Sparrows Winter League
It was a bit of a crazy day to go fishing, but 4 of us fished the first round of Sparrows winter league seeing as we were there and it was the first match of 2025.
We knew that the river Stour was rising and most decided not to fish but apart from that and the rain and snow we drew to fish at the Sports club. Stuart Fleming drew peg 2 and knew that he had no chance from that swim, he had one bite all match and that was it, a blank day for the first match of 2025 . Paul Lambert on the next peg had a better day and won the match with 2 lb 09 oz , Colin Barratt had 1 lb 15 oz and Bryan Morgan had 1 lb 08 oz so it proved it was right to go "old school" and fish regardless of what the conditions are .

Christmas Cup
" What a great weekend, I've just had the best days dace fishing on the river Stour that I've had for many years, on a day when a lot struggled for bites I caught 10 lb 12 oz of dace to win the Shipston-on-Stour and District Angling Club X mas club match ".
" The fish were no bigger than palm size but they were feeding constantly for the whole match. Colin Barratt came second with 9 lb 08 oz of chub and dace and Austin Dawe came third with 9 lb 06 oz of chub the biggest was 3 lb 06 oz. Well done to all the match anglers that have fished our matches throughout the year, I hope that you all have a Happy X mas and the next Stour open is December 28th I will post all the details soon ".

Aston Magna
This was affected by yet again another storm so it was switched from the river to Aston Magnas match pool. We were greeted by a couple of fallen trees but that didn't stop a handful of us from fishing and after a pathway was cut through we braved the wind and rain and the match was underway.
Gary Didcock who did all the hard work getting us access went on to win the match with a late flurry of carp in the last hour with 13 lb 09 oz, Stuart Fleming came second with 7 lb mainly due to catching a nice 5 lb 07 oz common carp and Baz Barnes was third with 4 lb 09 oz.
Next week fingers crossed 🤞 it's on the river Stour for the Xmas match and the weather gets better.

Aston Magna
Sunday's match which was switched to Aston Magna pools due to the weather and state of the river.
The winner was Kenny Watts from a corner peg with all carp for 21 lb 07 oz, second place was John Walkden with 11 lb 08 oz of chub and bream and third was Gary Didcock with a carp over 7 lb and he weighed in 7 lb 07 oz.
Hopefully the club will be back on the river Stour for the match on Sunday

ADDAC Winter League/Final Round
Here is the report and the results from the final round of the Shipston / ADDAC Winter league.
Storm Burt meant we had a change of venue for the last round of the Shipston /ADDAC Winter league from the Stour to the pools at Aston Magna, the 3 groups were spread over all 3 pools and everyone caught fish which kept the hunt for points right up to the final whistle.
Andy Bruce (ADDAC) won the match outright and a section win with 33 lb just edging Nigel Davis ( Shipston Superteam) into second spot with 29 lb 04 oz. Stuart Fleming had a section win ( Shipston Superteam) with 6 lb 06 oz just ahead of Graham Finch (ADDAC) on 5 lb 05 oz. Tony Avery (ADDAC) had 8 lb 12 oz for the other section win ahead of Aidy Icke ( Shipston Gold ) and Phil Outram ( GKW) both weighing in 6 lb 04 oz.
Shipston Superteam just managed to retain the lead to win the league after a close last round and Nigel Davis won the Dabber Jones Trophy which was allocated to this league this year.

RIVER STOUR ADDAC/SHIPSTON WINTER LEAGUE
The results from Sunday's open winter league was held on the river Stour at Shipston, Monk's Barn Farm and Clifford Chambers.
Five local teams fished and it was a close match on all three venues.
The drop in temperature definitely affected the weights today but everyone caught and it was just great to be back on the Stour after the the recent rain.
Nigel Davis ( Shipston superteam ) won at Monk's Barn Farm with 7 lb 12 oz and Andy Bruce ( ADDAC ) was second with 7 lb. Paul Lambert ( LAMB DONNAS ) won at Clifford Chambers with 4 lb 11 oz and Stuart Fleming (Shipston superteam ) came second with 3 lb 08 oz. Tony Avery (ADDAC ) won at Shipston with 10 lb and James Yates ( Lamb DONNAS ) came second with 5 lb 08 oz

Help for Heroes match
Newbury
Ten anglers went down to fish the charity H4H match. in Newbury.
Newbury angling club put on another successful HELP for HEROES match on the K&A canal at Enborne and Dave Smith from Newbury angling club did a great job organising it.
Adrian Ager won with an impressive 18 lb 02 oz and Mathew Tarrant came second with 15 lb 08 oz which was fitting as these guys have been there since the beginning of the H4H matches.
Shipston anglers Stuart Fleming won a section with 5 lb 04 oz and Gary Didcock also won his section with 3 lb 02 oz so Shipston-on-Stour and District Angling Club put up a good show. I think a decent amount of money approx £1000 was made on the day for this Charity open match.

River Stour
Sunday's Shipston match on the river Stour fished really well.
David Dowland won the match with 12 lb 12 oz , Austin Dawes came second with 12 lb 04 oz and Stuart Fleming came third with 9 lb 14 oz. Luckily the worst of the bad weather missed us and the river was fine and all the anglers caught well. It was nice to see the dace showing which is a good sign as not many have been caught so far this year.

Cotswold Cup Clanfield
Sunday's team win in the annual Cotswold cup competition held at Clanfield on the river Thames.
Shipston retain the Cotswold cup by winning 6 sections out of 10 . The overall winner on the day was Bryan Morgan and the 5 other section winners were Stuart Fleming ( Shipston captain ), Andy Bruce, Adie Icke, Gary Didcock and Les Ashby.
Pete Morgan, Simon Slowther, Phil Outram and Steve Arthurs made up the rest of the team
The Thames fished hard as expected and it was about catching as many small fish as possible and we all endured extreme weather conditions ending with an horrendous thunder storm but luckily the team was up to it and ended victorious.

Warwick Avon
Shipston angling club match at Warwick was on the river Avon, we knew with the clear water that it was going to fish hard which makes for a close match always and that's exactly the way it fished.
Peter Morgan won it easily with 6 lb 11 08 oz, Stuart Fleming came second with 3 lb 10 oz and Colin Barratt came third with 3 lb 09 08 oz ,that's how close the weights were for 2nd & 3rd just half an ounce between them.

A rather wet and windy day at Meadowlands fishery.
Steve Harris won, he weighed in 186 lb 07 oz just pipping Byron Yates into second spot with 184 lb, third place went to James Yates who weighed in 162 lb.

Boddington
The match at Boddington on Saturday produced some good weights with James Yates winning with 191 lb 09 oz, Peter Morgan came second with 158 lb 08 oz and Les Ashby was third with 134 lb & with 3 others over 100 lb it was a good match.
Phil Outram won the silvers with 25 lb 08 oz which made it interesting as they were all roach in his net.

Here are the results from week 1 of Shipston A C's Fishing extravaganza.
The first week is all about match fishing and this highly enjoyable but extremely competitive 3 day event is all about winning the coveted Ultimate Angler trophy and this year a new name is added to the trophy. Local angler Bryan Morgan took the honor with a near faultless festival coming third on the first day at Aston magna, second on the second day on the river Stour and winning on the third day at Seven Meadows on the river Avon at Stratford with 11 lb 09 oz of chub. His six points was enough to beat Malcolm Barnes's 8 points who also had a cracking festival, it was neck and neck all the way through with a third on the first day, a fourth on the second day and he also managed to win on the final day. Newbury angler Brian Cripps and Steve Arthurs and Aidrian Icke had eleven points and there were quite a few that could have won going into the final day.
The fishing was hard over all the different venues over all the three days this was probably down to it being mega hot on the first day with many anglers wilting under the baking hot sun, this was the hottest day for a long time and it came as a reminder to all of us that we need t take more drinks and wear a high factor sun cream.
This week we concentrate on the junior side of the event and we offer FREE tuition, Bait and supply and of course the gear each day from Friday to Sunday, Booking in can be done on Shipston Angling website, this is very popular so its advisable to book in to avoid disappointment.
THIS Saturday is the highlight of the two weeks with the popular FISH 'n' FROLICS FESTIVAL WHICH STARTS AT 3.00 PM at Shipston Sports club and this FREE ENTRY EVENT has live music, food and drinks, fairground rides plus much more, we have a mixture of music to suit all with headline act J.E.E.P who have recently reformed, top country singer Guy Surtees plus many others. This is our TENTH year AND WE INTEND TO MAKE THIS THE BEST EVER.

Newbury
On Saturday Shipston angling club had its annual match at Newbury on the Kennet and Avon canal, well done to James Yates ( Shipston AC ) on winning with a brace of perch and a big tench. His winning weight was 7 lb 14 oz.
Shipston-on-Stour and District Angling Club narrowly clinched it with a combined weight of 17 lb 15 oz but it was a close match as Newbury had a combined weight of 16 lb 06 oz.
Shipston captain Stuart Fleming thanked Newbury for putting on a brilliant match and we look forward to going back for the HELP 4 HEROES match later this year.
This Friday is the start of the FISH"N"FROLICS 3 Day Festival which will see 33 anglers compete to be the Ultimate Angler 2024

The Brook
Saturday's match at the Brook near Charlecote, 12 anglers fished and it fished hard on a lot of pegs which was probably due to the weather conditions and rising river..
Gary Didcock won with 9 lb 14 Oz of dace, Colin "Bagger" Barratt came second with 9 lb 09 oz ( two chub, biggest 4 lb 13 oz), Stuart Fleming came third with 8 lb.
Not long until the popular FISH' n' FROLICS Festival starts on 19 th July.

Pairs Match
Here is the report and the result from the Shipston Angling Alub match that was held at Aston Magna on Saturday, this was the first match from the new club book that started on 1st June. This was the annual pairs match which is always a very competitive match every year. 17 anglers fished on two of the pools at Aston Magna. The overall winner was Kenny Watts with 15 lb 05 oz, the runner up was one of the Junior anglers in only his second competition, young Jack Tandy weighed in 12 lb 10 oz and third place went to Aidy Icke with 9 lb 02 oz.
The winners of the pairs match were Jack and Steve Arthurs with a combined weight of 19 lb 14 oz .
